Who is Alpha Business Solutions?

We are a consultant firm assisting small to medium sized businesses by negotiating with our PEO partners for human resources, employee benefits, payroll and workers’ compensation. This allows our customers to meet pressing challenges and needs, to focus on growing their bottom line.

Who can benefit from our services?

Any business can find value in using Alpha Business Solutions. We want to be your “one stop shop” for workers’ compensation, payroll and payroll-related benefits.

How does an arrangement work with a PEO?

Once an agreement has been signed with one of our PEO partners, the PEO will establish a co-employer relationship with your employees. In the relationship both parties will share responsibilities and liabilities. The PEO assumes much of the responsibility and liability for the business of employment, such as risk management, human resource management, and payroll and employee tax compliance. You will retain responsibility for product development and production, business operations, marketing, sales, and service. Both parties share certain responsibilities for employment law compliance.

Are PEOs recognized as employers at the state and federal levels?

Yes. With specific licensing, registration, or regulation states statutorily recognize the PEO as the employer of record or co-employer of worksite employees for many purposes, including workers’ compensation and state unemployment insurance taxes. The IRS has accepted the right of the PEO to withhold and remit federal income and unemployment taxes for your employees.

Who is responsible for the employees’ wages and employment taxes?

The PEO assume responsibility and liability for payment of wages in compliance with the rules and regulations of federal and state taxes on wages paid to its employees. The PEO report income and handling withholding, FICA and FUTA.

Who is responsible for State and Federal Unemployment Taxes?

The PEO will assume responsibility and liability for payment of state unemployment taxes; most states recognize the PEO as the responsible entity to be reported under their account numbers.

Who is responsible for workers’ compensation?

Virtually all states recognize the PEO as the employer of worksite employees for purposes of providing workers’ compensation coverage.

Payroll FAQs

I do my payroll on my own computer. Isn’t that better than having a payroll service?

What if you make a tax deposit mistake?

Our written agreement clearly indemnifies you in the event we make a mistake. If we make a mistake on your tax deposit, we will pay any associated penalties that cannot be abated.

How does your tax service work?

We electronically debit your bank account for all payroll taxes the day before your payroll date. We then send payments to the respective taxing authorities and file all tax returns on your behalf. We eliminate your worries about tax deposit and return filing deadlines. And best of all…our tax service is at no additional charge.

What are my tax obligations as an employer if I do not use your services?

There are several types of payroll taxes that an employer must remit to various taxing authorities.

  • Federal 941 taxes
  • Federal 940 taxes
  • State and local income taxes where applicable
  • State unemployment and related taxes

I have employees in more than one state. Can you do multiple state taxes and reports?

Absolutely. We can handle any state or multiple states. We can also remit your local income taxes, as well.
